12 Yr-Old Stole Parents’ Credit Card & Flew To Bali After Fight With Mum. FOMO Kicked In Yet?

It’s good to be a little rebellious and carefree while growing up, but this wee little boy seems to have taken his rebellion a bit too far!

Remember the movie Home Alone 2: Lost In New York? Well, this boy from Australia surely seems to have been inspired from this blockbuster flick about a lad’s lone adventure in New York. After a fight with his parents, a 12-year-old boy from Sydney stole their credit card, booked himself a ticket to Bali, and took off! You read that right folks. A 12 year old did that!

He was repeatedly being told by his mother that he couldn’t go to Bali, their annual holiday destination (thank God for that!). So he decided to take matters in his own hand! “He just doesn’t like the word no, and that’s what I got, a kid in Indonesia,” said his mother, Emma.

12-year old travels solo to Bali airport pic

Here’s how this little prat managed everything on his own:

  • He got hold of the family credit card
  • His online research told him that Jetstar Airlines allow children 12 years of age to travel alone (he’s one smart kid!) so he booked himself a ticket
  • He convinced his innocent grandmother into giving him his passport
  • On the day of his trip, he left during his normal school timing so no one would suspect
  • He rode his bike to the local train station instead and traveled to the airport
  • He used a self-service check-in terminal and boarded a flight to Perth, and then to Indonesia

After reaching Bali, he checked into the ultra luxurious All Seasons hotel. Wondering why the staff let him check-in? Putting his brains to work one more time, this genius had told the staff that he was waiting for his sister to arrive. Another Home Alone deja vu, anyone?

Again, he’s just 12 YEARS OLD!

12 year old boy home alone moment

Once he had checked-in, the kid had a blast for the next four days. He hired a motorcycle to drive himself around (Oh yes, without a license!) and had BEER! His parents, worried out of their wits, found out only when a friend of the kid showed them a picture of him having a gala time in Bali.

The parents immediately flew to Bali to get their son back, only to be stopped by the Jetstar authorities in Perth because they didn’t have a return ticket. After a number of screaming matches with the Jetstar staff, the couple finally signed a waiver and went on to retrieve the kid.

After frightening his parents to death and spending almost $8,000 (4 lakhs) of their money on his lavish experience, the boy is now safely back home and is on the verge of getting his passport cancelled for his unruly behaviour.

12 year old boy meet mom after solo bali trip

“I wanted to go on an adventure!” is all this little wanderer said when asked the most basic question after his dramatic stint – ‘Why’

So, what were you doing when you were 12 years old? Reading Marvel comics or playing Hide-And-Seek, we bet! Though we’re sure he’s grounded for life after his not-so-subtle venture, this legend has given his generation some pretty hardcore #SoloTravelGoals for sure!

Don’t forget to share this with all your globetrotter buddies. After all, why should you be the only one feeling miserable for your non-existent guts and having the FOMO kick in big time! *wink*

The new rail line between Agartala and Kolkata will be cutting through Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka instead of Guwahati, reducing the travel distance from 1,600 km to just 550 km. The 12.3 km line will go to Akhaura which is linked to Dhaka-Chittagong rail route.

The INR 570 Crore rail line project will be operational from 2020, as informed by the sources. There will be a security check once at Nischintapur on the Indian side and Gangasagar on the Bangladesh side.

news - new rail line betwween Agartala and Kolkata

The new Agartala-Kolkata rail line will make freight movement and transfer of goods from Northeastern states to Kolkata faster than ever, making it a huge convenience for the north-easterners. The goods from the busy port of Chittagong will also reach Agartala quicker.

“Kolkata is a major destination for people in this area, but as of now, there was no direct connectivity to the city. The line will help not only people from Agartala but also those from Mizoram which is 150 km away,” Chief engineer of the Rs 570 crore project M S Chauhan said.

No more wasting days to get to Kolkata. The ‘achhe din’ for north-eastern commuters are finally here. Indian Railways is becoming a true messiah for travelers with one rail project at a time.

This 7-Year-Old Hyderabadi Boy Is Now The World’s Youngest Person To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

While the 90’s kids were busy playing gully cricket at the age of seven, Samanyu Pothuraju, a 7-year-old boy from Hyderabad climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and went on to set a jaw-dropping world record. Being the youngest person to have climbed the Roof of Africa, he scaled new heights and established some serious trekking goals for the upcoming generation.

No one would have ever thought that a mountaineering event at school could inspire Samanyu to trek atop Uhuru peak that stands tall at a height of 5,895 meters and happens to be the tallest mountain in Africa. The endless support extended by his mother Lavanya, the dedicated training sessions by his coaches, and a never-say-never attitude have been the key motivators for Samanyu.

Accompanied by Thammineni Bharath – his coach, Shangabandi Srujana – a fellow mountaineer, and a Tanzanian doctor, meeting his favorite actor Pawan Kalyan was also one of the reasons that motivated Samanyu to complete this strenuous trek.

Battling bad weather and tough terrains, Samanyu still managed to complete the whole trek in a matter of just five days. He said, “The day was rainy and the road was full of stones. I got afraid, I had leg pains, but I took rest and completed it.”

7-Year-Old Boy From Hyderabad Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro

While it is a great moment of celebration for Samanyu’s family, friends, and fellow Hyderabadis, it is also a matter of great pride for India as a country. Best Places To See On A Holiday In Northeast

The thrill of traveling to new places can’t be described in words but it can certainly be felt and our holiday in northeast is proof of that. We had been traveling extensively across India for the past two years and northeast was one of the places that was yet to be explored, so finally when we got time for a holiday, choosing our destination wasn’t that difficult. I traveled with my husband (Mr. Mohit Sharma) and my little sis (Ms. Sakshi Mehta) and quite frankly it couldn’t have been better.

Finally when it came to a package for our holiday in northeast, we decided to go for TravelTriangle since we had already had a great trip to Thailand with them and trusted them to do the same with this one too.

  • Duration: 5 nights 6 days
  • Cost: INR 143230
  • Inclusions: Transfers, sightseeing, hotels, and breakfast

We arrived at the Bagdogra airport at around 4 in the evening, so by the time we reached Gangtok it was quite late. We had booked the hotel in Gangtok (Hotel Greendale) ourselves and after we had checked in, we kept the luggage and rushed to savour the famous kathi rolls on MG road. As expected, they were delicious! Later, we returned to our hotel and had a good night’s sleep.

After breakfast in the hotel, we left for Tsomgo lake and Nathula pass trip. Everything was well arranged by Golden travels. The drivers were on time, and Mr Pradeep had also arranged our passes for Nathula pass. Everything went on smoothly. The driver was also a really nice guy. I felt the innocence of the Sikkimese people as he narrated his life’s story.

Tsomgo lake was freezing but it was fun. Clicked quite a few pictures there and then started our onward journey to Nathula Pass. If Tsomgo was chilly, Nathula pass was inclement. My brain almost stopped working there. We had a cup of coffee, which wasn’t close to coffee though but helped us gain some senses. After spending half an hour at the pass, we then had mouth watering Maggie at one of the small restaurant cum shop suggested by the driver itself. We reached our Gangtok hotel room by 6 in the evening and after a quick nap, freshened up and left for Baker’s Cafe, our food paradise for the evening. Needless to say, everything here was super delicious.

Day 3: Lachen – The surreal charm of the mountains

Today in the morning, we left for Lachen but this time, the driver wasn’t that good. But anyway, I won’t spoil my memories any further discussing about him.

The journey to Lachen was beautiful and on our way, just before reaching our hotel, we also had momos at a cafe in Chungthang, which eventually became our hotspot. We reached our hotel (Royal Lachen) at around 5pm.

The hotel was clean, food was simple and awesome, and quite frankly we were really not expecting such good standards in a place like Lachen.

Day 4: Lachung – The most picturesque day of our trip

Early morning (5am), we left for Gurudongmar lake. The hotel staff had packed poha for our breakfast which we had in a little Hogwarts (just kidding), at a localite’s home. This was an experience in itself.

Gurudongmar lake is good but the journey is bit tiring. And guess what my brain again stopped working once we reached the lake, but the view was breathtaking so I managed to click a few pictures which have received too much appreciation on our social media accounts (wink again). This time while returning, we had some awesome momos at Cafe 15000, run by the army and some life saving coffee provided for free.

We reached Lachung and loved the surprise our hotel room gave us when we opened the balcony for the view was breathtaking (Hotel Royal Lachung).

Day 5: Gangtok – Beauty within us and all around

We are not morning people, but waking up to a view like the one in Lachung was priceless (few snow covered peaks, river and sunshine on one of the peaks). It had snowed the previous night. We were damn lucky, it was the first snowfall of the season.

Later after breakfast, we began one of the most beautiful journeys of our lifetime, to Yumthang valley. It was so alluring that I cannot describe it in words. Snow on the trees, sunshine peeping in. Everything was so perfect about the place. After Yumthang valley, we proceeded towards our incorrect decision taken the previous night… to Zero point (neither the hotel staff nor the driver guided us right as we had asked them so many times if it would be worth visiting the place or not). There was nothing great about Zero point. There were chilly biting winds that’s it. We returned to Gangtok, and this was our only night left in this wonderful state. We went back to MG road for some hogging. This time it was “the coffee shop” and the place did not disappoint us at all.

Day 6: Goodbyes are hard but we promise to come back

This was our last day and early morning we left for Bagdogra airport with a cute driver uncle. Even the drive from Gangtok to Bagdogra was beautiful with river Teesta adding charm to the splendid beauty throughout.

In the end..

Overall, our holiday in northeast was one of the best ones we have had so far. The people of northeast are as pure as its nature and we loved their friendly vibes and warm hospitality. Right from the majestic mountains to the food, culture, ambience, and the sweet company of my husband and sister, everything was fab!

  • Yumthang valley would be on the top
  • View from hotel room in Lachung
  • Teesta flowing all our way adding to the beauty of the state
  • Tsomgo lake and Gurudongmar lake were also really good
  • Food in Lachen and Gangtok (food is our weakness)
  • Cafe in Chungthang where the road divides for Lachen and Lachung

The only bad thing during the entire trip was our experience with the driver (Madan, who kept on eating Rajnigandha, kept spitting on the streets, kept stopping the car to buy more of those packets, and he had a problem if even after 2 hours we asked him to stop for toilet/tea, he threw plastic bottle on a street of Lachen where they are totally banned, unfortunately 3 days of our trip was with this guy who had no etiquettes how to behave in public.

  • Spare one more day and visit Rumtek Monastery, we couldn’t do so, but we would definitely recommend.

Mesmerized by the stunning photographs they clicked? Well, you too can create your own beautiful memories. Book a northeast package from TravelTriangle and enjoy a personalized trip!

Chandigarh Airport Is Undergoing Changes & Will Remain Non- operational From May 12-31

The good news is, Chandigarh International Airport is undergoing a quick revamp thus enabling people to travel to more international destinations. The bad news is, the airport remains closed for 20 days, i.e. May 12-31 because of runway repair. The peak holiday season looms and by now, you might have been done with packing your bags, here’s a news that will make you reconsider your travel dates or flight boarding destination (assuming it to be Chandigarh). And we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused!

The Chandigarh Airport is looking to expand its runway which means there will be more wide-bodied aircraft (international aircraft) operating from Chandigarh to prominent destinations in Europe, US, and Australia. As of now, the Chandigarh Airport operates domestic flights to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Leh, Srinagar, Jaipur, Pune, and Kullu. While there are a few international flights operating to Dubai, Sharjah, and Bangkok. It is believed that over one lakh flyers would be affected during the mentioned period. It is, therefore suggested to head to Delhi or Amritsar for an uninterrupted journey and avoid a needless hassle.

We landed in Mauritius at noon. At the airport, we met our local representative who greeted us very nicely, briefed us on our entire trip plan, and handed us our itinerary.

Then we were transferred to our hotel – Le Grand Bleu – in a comfortable coach bus. I loved it!

The hotel was great, almost like a second home for us. It was Christmas Eve, so in the evening, the hotel staff arranged a Christmas party for all guests. We had the most fabulous time with great dinner, music, dance, and more.

This was a leisure day, so we chose to stay at the hotel all day. After a lazy, yet delicious breakfast served by the hotel’s friendly staff, we went to the beach and had a great time.

For lunch we took to the streets to hunt down a good restaurant, and came across ‘Refresh’. It was a very good place serving a variety of sumptuous cuisines and I will recommend it to all trippers of Mauritius.

In the evening we were dancing away at the Christmas party and enjoying the most delicious gala dinner where we were spoilt for choice. I don’t remember when Christmas had last been this much fun!

DAY 3: Speed boating to Ile Aux Cerf and walking under the ocean!

It was on this day that our fun honeymoon trip to Mauritius actually started. We went to Ile Aux Cerf Island, where we booked a water sports package and set about taming the seas!

I just loved the speedboat ride from Mauritius to Ile Aux Cerf island. It was a lifetime experience and I was in awe of the boat rider who was riding with such skill. We both enjoyed it thoroughly. En route we saw a waterfall – a small but visually stunning sight that was spraying us with cool water droplets owing to its close proximity to our boat. It was a surreal, unexpected experience for me and my wife!

After Reaching Ile Aux Cerf Island, we indulged in two marvelous activities – Underwater Sea Walk and Speed Boat Ride. Both the activities gave us one hell of an adventure. If you are doing it for the first time, you will always praise the moment when you decided to do it! The instructors and staff conducting these watersports were very cooperative.

Post lunch at the island itself, we returned to the hotel in the evening. We had an excellent guide – Mr. Kevin – who took great care of our needs and comfort at all times.

DAY 4: City Tour of South Mauritius

Himanshu honeymoon trip to Mauritius: near Lord Shiva statue

This day was reserved for the South Tour of Mauritius. After having breakfast at the hotel, we went shopping and bought a great many local items for our family and friends. After that, we saw many temples, one of which had an enormous statue of Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga. I was amazed to see such big statues of our Hindu gods and goddesses in Mauritius.

We also saw volcano crater, after which we went to a park where people were engaging in different sports like buggy riding. After a tiring, yet exciting tour of Southern Mauritius, we came back to our resort and retired for the night.

DAY 5: City Tour of North Mauritius

Post breakfast, we proceeded for the second round of Mauritius sightseeing – the North Tour of Mauritius. It was basically a city tour which included visiting the capital of Mauritius i.e. Port Louis, along with some historical places like forts, churches, and the waterfront as well. The best part is that the entire tour allowed enough time for a photo session!

Our driver cum guide took us around all these places at our pace. He was very communicative and friendly, and extensively briefed us over the historical facts about each place. After the tour, we went to the supermarket where we bought water bottles and other essential items.

DAY 6: Interacting with lions & giant tortoises at Casela

Himanshu honeymoon trip to Mauritius: interacting with lions

This was again a leisure day and so we decided to go to Casela Park which is very well known wildlife park in Mauritius. We wanted a close interaction with the big cats, i.e. the lions. So, we hired a taxi from outside of our hotel, and guess what, we found an Indian driver which was the best thing for us as far as comfort and communication were concerned. At Casela, we booked ourselves a Lion Interaction Tour and had a great time being with these majestic beings.

True to its name, this tour literally lets you interact with lions, wherein you can touch them and have your pictures taken. It will give you goosebumps when a lion walks by you!

On our tour here we saw many more animals like different varieties of fish, nd clicked pictures with giant tortoises walking about in the park. I would definitely recommend a visit to this park to everyone on their Mauritius honeymoon. Casela surely made our day!

DAY 7: Bidding farewell to this paradise

We packed our bags and left for the airport to board our flight home with lots of memories and experiences.

From the Christmas party organised by the hotel, to relaxing on the beach, riding a speedboat across the Indian Ocean, walking under the sea, and interacting with lions, our honeymoon trip to Mauritius was an unforgettable adventure. We thank TravelTriangle for making the first trip of our married life a huge success!

Our WOW Moments On The Trip: Christmas Party at hotel | Speed boat ride to Ile Aux Cerf | Underwater Sea Walk | Casela Nature Park | Interacting with lions | Our hotel Le Grand Bleu and its staff | Our attentive and friendly driver cum guide

Our Not-So-WOW Moments On The Trip:

  • The local tour operator didn’t mention to the hotel that we are a honeymoon couple which caused hassles
  • Mr. Anurag, who had arranged all the activities, didn’t bother to meet us even once

Otherwise the trip was fabulous!

Tips For Future Travelers

  • Honeymoon couples must stay at Le Grand Bleu hotel for its unmatched hospitality and luxury. The hotel is great also in terms of the food it provides
  • Book watersports from the hotel itself, as it will save you a lot of money. You might end up overpaying if you book it directly at the watersports location
  • Buy water bottles from the supermarket only. It will be way cheaper than the ones that the hotel provides you
