Report Reveals The Best Day For Booking Flight Tickets & No It’s Not A Tuesday!

For all you people who think booking air tickets on a Tuesday is a good idea because most people would be too busy to book theirs, well, we have news for you! As per a survey conducted by Expedia, Inc and Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC), booking flight tickets on a Tuesday or any weekday for that matter is not the best time.
The best day instead, is a Sunday and to that, we’d say it is better to follow a data backed option than some random Tuesday myth (if you really want to save money!).

booking flight ticket

The reason behind this as per the report is that since more and more business travelers are opting to book their flight tickets on a weekday, the so called advantage is gone now. Instead, Sunday has emerged as the day where one should make their flight bookings and that too a minimum 21 days in advance if you want to score even better prices.

General speaking, the increase in number of planes, higher capacity flights, and extensive competition has not only contributed to falling ticket prices but also have made exciting destinations more accessible. In other words, your dream holiday isn’t that far behind now.

And yes, the report also noted that the average price for flights in the world is also dropping (yay to that!).

So the question that remains now is that when are you planning your next holiday? Because quite frankly, the odds can’t be better than this!

Taking Selfies On Train Tracks Could Land You In Jail As Per New Rules Of Indian Railways!

The Indian Railways have been bringing about various updates in its measures over the last few months, including passenger ratings for cleanliness of trains and stations and the use of processed seawater for passengers to drink.

While many of the old rules for bookings are still there, there are some new rules that have been rolled out in the last six months, not adhering to which could possibly land you in prison!

The timings for Tatkal ticket booking remain the same. The booking window will open at its usual time of 10 AM for AC classes and 11 AM for non-AC a day prior to the date of travel, but:

  • Only a maximum of four people per PNR will be allowed

Indian railways ticket window

Additionally, if a Tatkal ticket is issued for more than one passenger in the case of people traveling in a group, where some passengers are confirmed and others in the waiting list, the confirmed passengers will get a refund as long as the entire ticket is cancelled at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.

India has an incredibly high recorded number of senseless selfie deaths on train tracks. Though the Indian Railways have been continuously making public service announcements urging people to refrain from such acts, to the extent of setting up designated selfie booths at train stations across the country, nothing has changed.

Which is why, the Railway Police have established a rule that these offenders who disrupt train services will be booked under Section 147 of the Railway Act (unlawful entry to restricted areas of the station, including tracks) and will either be imprisoned for up to six months or fined a sum of up to INR 1,000/-, or both.

The Indian Railways have surely put down some strict new rules and regulations to monitor and improve the railway transportation sector in India, and boy do they mean business! Do you disagree with any of these? Let us know in the comments below and share this with your train-trotting friends in India.

Dubai seems to want to stop at nothing for making and breaking world records over and over again. From the tallest building, tallest hotel, to now the largest sky pool, Dubai will soon be adding another feather to its hat!

The city is soon going to build a second Raffles on the artificial Palm Jumeirah island by 2021. When complete, the two towers of Palm360 will be the tallest building on The Palm Island.

The two-tower site will have 359 branded residences that will include 16 penthouses with a private infinity pool, gym, and cinema in each of them. The hotel will also have two rooftop restaurants overlooking the beautiful city of Dubai at the top of one of the towers, along with some downright opulent facilities that will make you feel like royalty.

The hotel will have a waterside restaurant, a luxe all-day diner, a lavish lobby lounge, Raffles Spa, a health club, tennis court, a beach club, as well as a fully-supervised children’s club.

Dubai palm jumeirah

But that’s not what’s getting everyone talking. What we’re excited about is the pool! Word is that it’s going to be the world’s largest sky pool, resigning at 170 meters of height and spanning a whopping 155 meters in length, connecting the two towers. The waterside restaurant we mentioned is going to be right on the side of this super sky pool. How cool is that!

The property will give you a direct access to the beach, and its beach club will be located directly on the brand new 11 km crescent Boardwalk of The Palm. Need more reasons to go check it out?

Coming as a joint venture between Dubai-based developer Nakheel and the AccorHotels that run Raffles, this sky pool is probably going to be the sexiest addition to Dubai’s landscape.

Imagine taking a lavish swim in a pool no less than an ocean with sweeping views of the grandest Middle Eastern city right below! We don’t know about you but we’ve started dreaming already.

Flying To The US This Summer? Apply Early For Visa

The US embassy has asked Indian travelers to apply early for US visa to avoid potential delays because of high demand for it during the summer season. The embassy also said that Indian applicants may have to wait 30 days or more for their visa interview appointment.

“The US embassy and our four consulates are constantly working to improve service and meet demand, but applicants should be aware that the summer is a peak travel season and there will be delays in getting visa appointments. Travelers should apply early to avoid potential delays,” the embassy said.

They have also advised applicants to beware of scams and fraud and reminded them that the only way one can get a US visa is through channels.

a flight of America

“The only way to get a US visa is through official channels. Someone can either apply and have an interview at a US Embassy or Consulate, or if they have had a visa before and meet certain criteria, they may qualify to have their visa renewed.”

“Anyone claiming they can guarantee a visa in exchange for a fee is attempting to defraud you. Applicants should be smart and apply the right way,” the US embassy official said.

The embassy said consular sections in the US mission are currently only able to expedite visa appointments for cases involving genuine emergencies.

You Could Never Guess Which City Will Have A 100 Million Residents By 2100

While everyone is blabbering about world population on the rise, Lagos in Nigeria is going to be world’s most populated city by end of this century. The population here is predicted to come close to 100 million, which would indeed take over the population rate of Tokyo; as per the research conducted by University of Ontario Institute of Technology. In fact, many African cities will see a rise in population in the coming years.

Daniel Hoornweg, Associate Professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology said “Lagos, Dar Es Salaam, Kinshasa: These are the cities that are looking at four- to five-fold increases in population; by the end of the century, the lion’s share of large cities, the top 20 if you will, most of those will be in Africa,” in an interview with Voice of America.

The research was projected using the data provided by United Nations’ World Urbanization Prospects; predicting growth of population as well as urbanization through 2050. There were again many factors which led to the analysis – current urban to rural ratio in cities, birth rates and mortality rates. Currently, the most populated city is Tokyo in Japan, with 38.1 million people (2016) calling it home. The research also predicted that by 2100, the world’s population would range between 6.9 billion and 13.1 billion.

Daniel Hoornweg also mentioned that China is heading toward the latter leg of urbanization phase, and currently the wave of urbanization is headed to India and will later be going towards sub-Saharan Africa’s big cities.

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: during desert safari

Traveling is synonymous with spending quality time with loved ones in novel destinations. It’s all about having new experiences and taking a break from routine life to de-stress.

Being doctors with extremely busy schedules, me and my wife knew we would hardly have any time to make all arrangements for the trip. Though we had finalised our destination – Dubai – long back, we were stuck with hotel bookings and the itinerary. That’s when TravelTriangle came to our rescue!

A friend of mine had suggested TravelTriangle to me. Being a travel blogger himself, he had apparently traveled via TT some time back and had full faith in their services. After we had sent in our query, the company’s Dubai team immediately got to work and furnished us a fantastic itinerary according to our preferences with top choices for hotels.

We had to put in minimal effort in planning our trip. Everything was well taken care of by TravelTriangle, all within our budget!

Here’s a detailed account of my trip to Dubai:

DAY 1: Quad Biking & BBQ Delicacies on Golden Sands

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: quad biking

We arrived in Dubai at around 11 AM and were escorted to our hotel – Hilton Garden Almina. After resting for a while, we proceeded for the first activity in our Dubai itinerary – the Desert Safari. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed quad biking on those golden dunes (at our own expense), followed by a back-breaking but fun round of dune bashing.

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: camel riding

An afternoon of exciting activities on the sand was followed by an entertaining evening where we enjoyed freshly prepared barbecue dinner on the sands while watching performances of Belly Dance, Tanoura Dance, and Fire Show. The food was average, but the experience of watching those shiny performances under the starry sky made up for it!

DAY 2: Dubai City Tour With Miracle Garden And Global Village

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: miracle garden

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: global village

We spent the morning exploring the popular attractions of Dubai as part of our Dubai city tour. This was followed by a visit to the Miracle Garden, where, millions of flowers all around you proved to be an out of world experience!

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: global village at night

Later, we explored the Global Village, an enormous place that offered a stupendous shopping extravaganza unlike anywhere else. The best part about Global Village was the Bollywood Dance and Monster Truck Show!

DAY 3: Playing With Snow In Ski Dubai Snow Park

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: burj khalifa at night

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: dubai cityy view from burj khalifa

In the morning we went to Ski Dubai and totally loved it! It was freezing in contrast to the scorching temperature of Dubai outside. We engaged in a lot of fun snowy rides before proceeding to the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa in the evening.

It was a lifetime experience to watch the Musical Fountain from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa.

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: meena bazaar

The fourth day of our Dubai honeymoon trip was a leisure day, so we went to the Dubai Frame, the largest picture frame in the world! This was followed by a visit to the Meena Bazaar and Gold Souk where we treated ourselves with some light shopping.

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: dubai frame

In the evening we sailed the Dubai Creek aboard the Dhow Cruise where we enjoyed a hearty meal, some traditional dance performances, and a glittering view of Dubai’s skyline.

DAY 5: Riding Ferraris And Exploring The Dazzling Realms Of Grand Mosque

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: ferrari at ferrari world

In the morning we boarded our SIC coach to travel to Abu Dhabi for a tour of this amazing place. After around 2 hours of traveling, we reached this new-age metropolitan and immediately escaped to Ferrari World – the much-awaited part of our trip. Saying that it was an awesome experience would be an understatement!

We tried as many of those thrilling rides as we could but still couldn’t get enough of this paradise. Later, we proceeded for an eventful city tour of Abu Dhabi. Though we enjoyed visiting all of Abu Dhabi’s attractions more or less, it was the Sheikh Zayed Mosque that took our breath away with its incredible architecture and stunning outlook!

DAY 6: Hotel Atlantis And Aquaventure Waterpark

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: lost chambers

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: in atlantis

This day, we moved to Hotel Atlantis in the morning, as we wanted to experience a stay at this luxurious abode before heading home. Since their check-in time was 3 PM, they provided us free passes to the Aquaventure Waterpark where we enjoyed 3-4 water rides till it was time to check-in. The most excellent of these rides was the Lazy River where we found ourselves laughing and splashing water like silly little kids!

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: outside atlantis

After we had pleased our hearts with the ultra luxurious interiors of this grand hotel and our room, we proceeded to Lost Chambers in the evening. This bizarre aquarium is undoubtedly one of the best attractions in Dubai, and so is the dining experience at its Kaleidoscope restaurant! One must not miss these two experiences on their Dubai honeymoon trip.

DAY 7: Bidding Farewell To Dubai

We had a lavish breakfast at Saffron, the amazing restaurant at Atlantis, before being dropped at the airport for our return flight. We boarded our flight well in time with fond memories of our trip and the hope to return to this paradise someday!

ashish singhal dubai honeymoon trip: in ski dubai snow park

We cannot thank TravelTriangle enough for brewing us a superb trip and providing all sorts of comforts and amenities during it. Needless to say, we had the most amazing time of our lives!

Our WOW Moments Of The Trip: Though the whole trip was one big WOW for us, we would like to single out the following experiences.

  • The visit to Burj Khalifa & Dubai Mall – it was an awesome feeling to see the magnificent water fountain show from the staggering heights of The Burj.
  • The visit to Miracle Garden & Global Village was simply fantastic!
  • My wife enjoyed a lot at Ferrari World.
  • The Desert Safari was one hell of an adventure!
  • Ski Dubai – playing with snow in a desert, where else do you get that privilege?

What We Missed Out On: We wish we had more time to explore the exciting spots of Dubai like the Glow Garden.

Tips For Future Travelers:

  • Book Dhow Marina Cruise instead of Dhow Cruise.
  • Dress respectfully. Emiratis are very strict about their laws against obscenity and exposing clothes in public.
  • Book your trip only with TravelTriangle for an awesome experience at the best prices when compared to other leading travel agents.

We hope we’ve been able to help you plan your Dubai honeymoon trip better with this insightful account of Ashish’s vacation. Now book your trip to Dubai without further ado and embark on your lives’ most special journey!
